Hainan is a beautiful place. I lived there for a summer holiday. There is lots of clean water. More specific, most of them are blue sea water. And there are many green plants. The air is very fresh. I think maybe it is because of the water and plants. The weather is very hot. But I don’t hate, because I can go swimming every day. When I come back to my hometown, I am not allowed to do this. Hainan is also a travel city. I feel proud when I see many people come here for a visit, because I can visit those places every day. My memory in Hainan is very good.

在中国境外，很少有人把汉语普通话当作第二语言（因为它极其复杂），而英语是英国、美国、加拿大、新西兰、澳大利亚、爱尔兰和多个加勒比海与太平洋国家的主要语言；同时还是斐济、冈比亚、加纳、圭亚那、印度、牙买加、肯尼亚、莱索托、马达加斯加、马拉维、毛里求斯、纳米比亚、尼日利亚、巴基斯坦、巴布亚新几内亚、菲律宾、卢旺达、新加坡、南非、坦桑尼亚、特立尼达和多巴哥、乌干达、赞比亚、津巴布韦与香港的官方语言。英语是世界上使用最广泛的语言，也是被教授最多的外语。如果中国人继续像现在这样热情地学英语，有朝一日全球能真正第一次进行世界性的对话。
英语很适合用来进行这样的全球对话，既是因为英语相对易学（只有26个字母），而且因为它的词汇量极大（并且一直在增长），能够允许更大程度的自由表达。英国演员和知识分子斯蒂芬·弗莱（Stephen Fry）说：“英语的词汇量肯定是最大的，远远超过其他语言。正如中国人口世界第一，英语的词汇量是世界第一。”英语词典里有超过50万个词（比任何其他语言都多三倍），所以在全球约6000种语言里，英语占据遥遥领先的第一。“英语是多么高贵的一种媒介，”温斯顿·丘吉尔于1908年对作家俱乐部演讲时说，“随便写一页，就一定会感受到我们母语的丰富性与多样性、灵活性与深奥的底蕴，这给我们带来极大的愉悦。”
我当然不是说，英语应当取代其他所有语言（它们构建了我们神奇美妙的语言世界）。我的意思是，如果中国人和其他所有人都学英语，那么我们就能更轻松地解决问题，因为全世界的.人们很快就能清楚地互相理解。在外交、贸易、空中交通管制、计算机和其他许多关键领域，这样的事情已经发生了。去年发生了一件不寻常的事情。世界上对语言最具保护主义的国家是法国。法国政府规定了哪些词可以用，哪些不可以，以及广播电台可以播放多少首非法语歌曲。而去年，法国不得不接受，著名的巴黎综合理工学院（école Polytechnique）的几门课程开始用英语授课。
